Health Education

UNC Health Care provides the community with a wealth of information to help people maintain and improve their health. In 2011alone UNC Health Care provided more than 150 free lectures and more than 3,400 free screenings and consultations valued at $693,000. This was done through the extraordinary efforts of physicians and staff who traveled across the state to participate in health fairs and community events and through their involvement with the NC Area Health Education Center Program (AHEC) and the UNC Student Health Action Coalition (SHAC).
In addition to these outreach efforts, UNC Health Care offers a
variety of programs, print and online resources to disseminate
important health information.
