Liberty Mutual Enhancements
UNC Health Care is pleased to announce some enhancements to the
Supplemental Disability Plan underwritten by Liberty Mutual effective
January 1, 2012.
- A single rate structure for all employees regardless of years of service. The rates for this plan were previously determined on a step rate basis using years of service as a factor in determining your rate.
- A new more competitive rate of $0.00233 of monthly pay will be used for all employees and this rate is guaranteed for three years. This represents more than a 58% decrease in the rates previously used for new employees electing coverage under the plan.
- All enrolled employees will have an unlimited coverage period in the event of an illness for any mental or nervous condition.
- Effective with the December 7, 2011 payday, Liberty Mutual premiums will not be deducted because the new enhanced program will deduct premiums in the month in which coverage becomes effective. The premium will No Longer be deducted one month in advance of the effective date of coverage, i.e. November premium covers December coverage. Beginning with the January 4, 2012 payday, your new premium will be reflected in your check.
